About DSinclairWriting [old]

Hi, I’m Daryl Sinclair, I help organisations achieve Systemic Equity.

I provide a comprehensive service to understand the specific context of your organisation and where you are and establish a path for you to move towards Systemic Equity. Addressing concerns such as how to ensure staff buy-in, inclusion of parent and students bodies, ensuring sustainability of actions, and how to maintain new systems focused on actions and procedures, not personal biases.

I approach my consultancy with a contextual and democratic approach that empowers school leaders to construct their own knowledge. I use coaching and mentoring techniques supported by models, proven approaches, and the latest research.

With my experiences in senior leadership, academic and leadership consultation, mentoring, teaching internationally, living with diabetes, and experiencing the world through a racialised lens, I support the creation of Systemic Equity through refined and intentional leadership strategies.

Breaking down existing norms and hegemony in education is central to my goals and work. Engaging with schools and exam boards to move away from standardised tests, timed tests, summative assessments, and the prioritisation of written examinations. As is supported by detailed research; formative assessment, presentation and portfolio-based assessment, and diverse assessment methods are more inclusive and supportive of the success and development of our students for the future.

I encourage clients to focus on what they DO, rather than what they think or position as their intent. Whether seeking your first international role, or seeking to gain approval from the parent body, my consultancy and mentoring will support better more equitable outcomes.

I have been teaching since 2011 and teaching internationally since 2016, having the pleasure of teaching in London, Pinneberg, and Chongqing. My experiences include state and private schools, along with time teaching A-Level, IGCSE, GCSE, MSA, and the IBDP, alongside the national curriculums of various countries.

I have multiple years of experience as a middle and senior school leader, and my work has supported the creation and execution of systems which have supported increasingly equitable outcomes for all members of the learning community.

Beyond my work as a teacher, I am also actively involved with textbook writing and editing, including works which have been published by Hodder in the UK in 2021. I have also published several works in the Teaching Geography Journal, including upcoming works.

I look forward to connecting with more teachers, school leaders, and educational organisations to support the positive development of leadership strategies and inclusive spaces for learning.
