Not enough of an expert to be confident to take DEIJ action?
Sheena Nabholz doesnโt consider herself a DEIJ practitioner but in our DEIJ Hot Takes episode, you can learn how school leaders and aspiring heads can still transform learning in their community in equitable ways.

In our new episode of DEIJ Hot Takes, Sheena Nabholz explores intercultural competence and the reality that leading effectively is about constantly learning while also making space for experts.
We discussed the intercultural skills that school heads need to develop and the actions that people in positions of power can take to ensure their work and decisions are leading to greater inclusion, even without personally feeling like an expert.
- If you have power to lead and make decisions, you are able to make space for and platform experts and advocates of DEIJ work. For school leaders, making space for learning and experts can be your way to achieve transformative and equitable developments for your school.
- Intercultural competencies in leadership are critical to the success of any belonging and inclusion initiatives in educational organisations.
- Culture is not tied to our outward presenting identity or labels and it is important for leaders to be sensitive to the different experiences outwardly similar people may have within the same space.
