Flexible Communication for Impactful Leadership: ECIS Leadership Conference recap, April 2025

How can we communicate flexibly across cultures and needs to ensure impactful leadership?

Session Title: Visitor Skills Update: Flexible Communication for Impactful Leadership

‘As a NEASC visitor, I want to be able to communicate effectively with schools to support their development of inclusive and equitable practices for their context. I want to develop an approach which centres the school and develops trust in order to transform learning.’

‘Visitor Skills Update: Flexible Communication for Impactful Leadership’ will provide a consolidation of the NEASC DEIB approach and practical tools for engaging in DEIB-related conversations with a coaching mindset. Focusing on approaches to ensure contextually appropriate engagement across the variety of US and international educational contexts – Daryl Sinclair will model and champion the role of visitors in supporting school’s DEIB journey as part of their NEASC accreditation. You will leave the session equipped with key updates to visit logistics regarding cultural context, defined approaches to DEIB conversations, a personal commitment to action supported by NEASC, and a wealth of supporting resources for your journey. This will enable you to better engage NEASC candidates in transforming learning through a DEIB lens.

It was a pleasure presenting our new Flexible Communication for Impactful Leadership workshop with Darlene Fisher. Our session focused on the and meeting the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) team in person. A huge thank to Trillium Hibbeln, George Edwards and Joseph Kotarski, Ed.D. for their care and warm welcome and it was great having dinner with the team plus Kam Chohan – another brilliant conference, congrats!

So many experiences, meetings, conversations, and an overwhelmingly affirming experience. I feel like some of the energy and connections made during the conference will certainly support me in flourishing in the future.

Thank you to all of you who I got to meet and if you have a picture with me that I neglected to get from you, send it my way!
