I owe my most eye-opening and horizon-broadening experiences to the moments when I took on a different perspective.
Visiting schools has taught me that by listening to and centering the experiences of others as we support them, we not only empower them but also equip ourselves with invaluable tools to better support, understand, and contribute to a multicultural society where everyone belongs.
In early February I completed my first NEASC accreditation visit of the year. I had the privilege of visiting SEK International School Riyadh and their community. I decided to make a habit of documenting my trips so though this is more of a personal video than anything I hope you enjoy it.
A huge thank you to Susana Calvo Downie for being an incredible liaison representing SEK Riyadh, and to Dima AlZuhair for sharing her regional expertise both during our personal discussions and as the visit lead.
Sandra Ospina( she/hers) is a school leader to watch and I wish her and SEK Riyadh the best in their bright future. It was incredible to see how they respond to their context and continue to march towards their mission and values. I learnt many new perspectives for education and hope that much was taken away from our visit and recommendations.
With their continued and explicit commitment to equity and belonging, I look forward to my continuing work with New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
